After four years of studying at DJCAD, my awareness of understanding how the environment and surroundings can affect an individual’s behaviour has been heightened. Gaining a deeper understanding into the cognitive process we as humans undertake within a space and studying how our reaction to the context we are placed in can vary depending on the stimuli occurring in each.
Applying these research skills that I have built up has allowed me to learn about how spaces work and how to make these settings stimulating for the people using them. To do this though, a series of research methods were used such as observations and interviews to gain knowledge in how to control, simplify, change or explain a situation. As a teacher, it is important to observe the children’s development and behaviour in a range of contexts and monitor the progress they make into these different areas of development.
